Really interesting. I read Passion and Purity when I was steeped in purity culture as a teenager, and I remember loving it - but also feeling like I would never be able to match Jim and Elizabeth's devotion to Jesus and aversion to anything sexual. It makes me sad that their story was not what it seemed, but it also makes sense to me now that my previous views have changed. It's fascinating how those who seem most devoted to loving Jesus (at least in the fundamental sense), seem to fail so intensely at loving others.
